a little update

I'm working on updating my website but with everything else that's going on, it's taking forever!
In the meantime, you can find more information about what's going on in my studio via my facebook and instagram pages:

long neck

I've recently started a new body of work.
Earrings came first of course. Long, dangly ones with lots of movement :-)
Here's the first pair after soldering, waiting for their emery and polish.

back at the bench

Preliminary sketches for some new work.
It's good to be back at my jeweller's bench after some time out to set up a little business called Blumengarten.
Plans are afoot for a jewellery exhibition in 2017.

highly polished

Here are some more pieces from my 2014 TAFE project work...carved wax/cast rings and hand-fabricated earrings.
Finishing everything to a 'trade standard' high polish was a little foreign to me, compared to the world of contemporary jewellery, where matte and dark is more usual...but as you can see, I became pretty good at making things shiny. Perhaps also a little obsessive compulsive about it.

I recently completed the final year of my Certificate III in Jewellery Manufacture at Enmore Design Centre. Still much to learn (always), but with more trade/technical knowledge under my belt, I feel ok calling myself a Jeweller now.

This is one of my final year projects...a hand-fabricated dress ring...from the initial saw-piercing through to the catalogue photo shoot. (Note to self: remember to take photos of all the stages next time).

The last image is by Brook Rushton.

I'm meant to be emerying and polishing some jewellery but I had an urge to draw, so I went with it.

So it seems keeping my website up to date is not my forte! In between orchestrating an office move in my 'other' job, there's been a lot of photography and editing going on in the background in the last month. Here's a (low resolution) preview of some new website images....
